If you have been following the news around the local anime blog scene, you would know that top Japan idol girl group, AKB48, has been performing here in Singapore on a regular basis, and that there have been plans for an “official AKB48 themed cafe” to be opened here.
Well, I am glad to say that the cafe is now officially open.
I wonder if I’m breaking any copyright laws by ripping images off the cafe website? You can even see the little “copyright” logo there on the pic. XD
If you ask me, the “A” in “AKB48″ looks a little like the number “4″…
Of course, there has been a soft launch of the AKB48 cafe some time ago. Since I wasn’t there during the launch, I will assume that it was well received. Also, I’m not sure if the soft launch can be counted as the “official opening”. To me, it might as well be.
Anyway, looking through the official website for the cafe, I can say that the food there looks really good. Especially the pasta. That picture looks to tempting to resist.
Looks delicious, but does it taste delicious?
See what I mean? Just look at the texture of that carbonara. And at the bright yellow color of the yolk. The dash of black pepper serves to bring out the flavor. I really hope it tastes as good as it looks, because if it doesn’t, they would be doing themselves a great disservice.
The omu rice looks good too. On picture. Does it really?
The success of a cafe or a diner depends on many factors. The atmosphere, the attitude of the staff, lighting, decor, service – they are all important. But of utmost important is the quality of the food. If the food is good, people would go through all seven kinds of Hell and high water just to eat it. Especially in Singapore. We Singaporeans are famous for going to absurd lengths just to enjoy good food.
Guess I will just have to make a trip down to the AKB48 cafe to experience the place for myself. And maybe I will attend their concert after I’m done with my meal. ^^
