After several months of wait, the long awaited event has finally arrived! This weekend from the 21st to the 22nd, the 2nd Anime Festival Asia opens its doors to the general public. We’ve been covering news on the event since word first broke out both here and our sister site Art in Movement , check those posts out to see what’s in store!  You may also want to see our report of last year’s event!

We’ll be trying out something different for this year’s coverage of the event. We’ll be doing Live On-The-Scene reports of the event itself through Friday – Sunday using our twitter account and our Flickr account. so do visit our site over the weekend!

We’ll be there as well, as we’ll be co-hosting with our fellow co-organisers, NUSCAS, CDS and Techcomix, our Extravaganza Illustration Showcase at AFA itself! Do drop by to admire the artworks and pay us a visit!

Eva Fans rejoice! 2 years after Eva: 1.0 You are (Not) Alone graced local screens, Cathay Cineplexes has announced they are bringing the next installment of the Evangelion: Rebuild franchise, Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance,  to their cinemas from the 12th of November 2009. A total retelling of the hit anime series Evangelion, Eva 2.0 promises to diverge more from its source material to head out into a bold new direction with the series, including introducing a new character to the cast lineup. A must-see for all Anime fans!

Last year, we bid farewell to Shiro Tsubasa Anime Club, who have been hosting the End of Year Cosplay Event (more affectionately known as EOY) for many years. And earlier this year, local Japanese fashion retailer Black Alice announced their intention to continue the EOY tradition, now choosing to hold it at National Library on the 26th of December

Facing growing competition from newer events over the years like AFA and Cosfest, the new organisers of EOY have upped the ante, inviting Japanese Artiste Yui Makino to the event for special appearance and performance. Yui Makino is best know for her voice work on Tsubasa Chronicles as Sakura, but she’s an accomplished pianist and singer as well, having performed theme songs for shows such as Aria, Sora O Kakeru Shoujo and Welcome to the NHK. Tickets for her performance at EOY are now available through Gatecrash.

Last week, AFA opened up sales for I Love Anisong 2 Day package deal. This week, they’ve also opened up sales for the single day concert tickets as well. Tickets can be purchased at Sistic here. It’s $108 for single day tickets and $188 for both days. Get them while they’re hot!

Continuing AnimeWorks’ long tradition, this October our club is proud to present Animation:R! Formerly known as Animation Revelation, Animation: R is a three day screening event here in NTU featuring 3 excellent Anime movies!

Timings and Dates as follows:

• 15th October 2009 (Thursday) – 7pm @ LT5 –  The Girl Who Leapt through Time
• 20th October 2009 (Tuesday) – 7pm @ LT1A - Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete
• 22th October 2009 (Thursday) – 7pm @ LT24 -  Read or Die OVA

The screening is free and open to all members of the NTUVAS. Those of you who aren’t members need not worry as membership is available at the door. Refreshments will be provided. So forget about your worries, join us for a few evenings of animation wonder to revive your passion for the medium, relive some of its most triumphant moments, and most importantly, to just relax and unwind with fellow anime fans.

Sypnosis:  Makoto Konno, an outgoing high school girl living a daily life of fun. She’s not the best student in the world, but she has two of the best friends in the world – Kousuke, who’s the strong, smart dependable type, and Chiaki, who is a fun-loving slacker. One day, she obtained the ability to “leap” backwards through time, where she can change the past. Thus, she immediately sets about improving her grades and preventing personal mishaps. However, changing the past is not as simple as it seems to be; and things start to spiral out of control. “Time waits for no one”

Singapore’s premier Animation Film Festival, Animation Nation is here once again! From October 14 – 21, Singapore Film Society will be bringing to you various animation films and shorts from across the globe and screening them at the National Museum of Singapore.

Get to see some of the best animation works the field has to offer.  From feature films like the Secret of Kells, Barefoot Gen and Oscar nominated Waltz with Bashir. To shorts from famous studios like Studio AKA and Studio 4 degrees as well as top local talents. There are even seminars where you can meet some of the leading talents in the industry!

Hello everyone! This is Stifler. You might know me from hanging out in the RP section of Onemanga or from reading other anime blogs. And yes, as you might have guessed, I’ll joining the vibrant club life that we have right here at NTU as this blog’s new author!

Ahahahahahahahaha!!!

So, yeah, a little self introduction is in order, I suppose. I’m a first year student, currently studying Physics and Applied Physics over at SPMS at NTU, and getting wiped all over the floor by the courses. I’m part of the AnimeWorks section of the Visual Arts Society of NTU, and its really great to be here and to meet so many like minded individuals.

I’m a big fan of Typemoon’s work, having played most of their games. I also play my fair share of Touhou games, and enjoy a little Stepmania every now and then. So if you ever see me online and wish to play Melty Blood or just talk, feel free to drop me a message  or join us in the forums. The links can be found over by the right.

Besides playing Typemoon games, I also enjoy watching anime. My current favorite would be Bakemonogatari, produced by the brilliant animation studio SHAFT. I foresee a great future for them. I probably won’t be posting about anime much through, unless its something interesting…like talking about all the mindgames in  Umineko no Naku Koro ni.

As you might tell, I do read quite a number of visual novels.Mostly it comes from my hobby of reading. I mostly read fantasy books, and my favorite series include the likes of Robert Jorden’s Wheel of Time, George R.R Martin’s Song of Ice and Fire, and Elizabeth Haydon’s Symphony Of the A ges. They are all good reads, and if you are into fantasy like I am, do be sure to pick them up the next time you are at your local library.

I guess that’s all. You will see me around, posting random posts here and there when I feel like it, or whenever something catches me by the neck and demands to be posted. Till later, then~

And no, my name has nothing to do with Stifler from the American Pie series. Matter of fact, I’ve never even heard of Stifler from American Pie until some people started asking me why I call myself that.
